Statement of Support
for Litigation to Stop ObamaCare
Join hundreds of thousands of concerned Americans
who are making a real difference by supporting Liberty Counsel’s
federal lawsuit challenging the healthcare reform bill that was passed by the 111th Congress
The healthcare bill originally
passed in the Senate just before Christmas 2009, and narrowly passed by the
House of Representatives on Sunday, March 21, 2010, is unconstitutional
because Congress lacks the authority to mandate insurance coverage for
individuals or private businesses. Because this bill mandates such coverage,
and any “reconciliation” issues that may eventually be incorporated in the
core bill will not change its essential mandates, Liberty Counsel is filing
suit against it.
Every Version of
ObamaCare We’ve Seen is Unconstitutional
Congress does not have unlimited authority
to regulate private actions. If the Constitution does not give Congress the
power to act, then Congress cannot act. Congress clearly lacks the
Constitutional authority to force individuals to have – or businesses to
provide – health insurance. Congress’s attempt to force health insurance
coverage on the nation is a stunning example of what Congress cannot do
under the Constitution of the United States of America!
